Founder & Lead Engineer
Waypoint was founded by David Villavicencio, a first-generation immigrant and full-stack engineer based in Chapel Hill, NC, driven by a mission to make technology more accessible for underserved communities and early-stage builders.
Growing up navigating barriers to education and opportunity, David learned how powerful the right tools, and the lack of them, can be. That perspective shapes Waypoint's philosophy: build technology that creates real leverage for people trying to build something of their own.
Before Waypoint, David shipped full-stack platforms and AI-driven systems, from personalized recommendations to intelligent automation, always focused on one idea: reducing friction between an idea and execution.
